About Me

My journey into the holistic side of life began when I was about 6 years old. Being the only child of a single-parent household, with a mom who'd had several bad car accidents over her lifetime, I was soon employed as the house massage therapist. I have to admit, I hated it then...just as you were getting comfortable on the couch to watch the muppets, there she was begging for a back rub! It wasn't so bad as I got older and she actually started paying me, and who knew this would be the start to my career as an LMT? I believe everything happens for a reason, and through some detours in life, I have come full circle. My true education experience began as a student of Reiki. I spent 10 years in the printing industry, working long hours for "ok" pay and high stress. One day I was having an awful time at work with cramps. A friend of mine and co-worker offered me Reiki and the rest, as they say, is history! After that experience, I finally took the leap of faith and quit the printing industry to return to school and learn massage therapy. Thanks to Mike Red for getting me back on the path!

I am a graduate of the 750 hour A.A.S. Degree in Therapeutic Massage from Phoenix College, where I received extensive training in anatomy and physiology, Swedish massage, trigger point, deep tissue, and orthopedic protocols. I am a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association, and a Certified Usui Reiki Practitioner (Level 2). I also assist with the Reiki class and their website at Phoenix College.

I also try to practice what I preach, by living a healthy lifestyle. I stay active by hiking, camping, traveling, and my latest adventure: Shinkendo! I am also a vegetarian, I like to read, romp in the yard with the dogs, ride my bike, and I'm always interested in continuing education.

I am not a massage therapist who is here to just clock-in and clock-out. I am here to work with you to create change in your life, and facilitate growth toward your physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. I have a true desire to help people in a compassionate and holistic way. We are all on a journey through life, and I would be honored to be included in yours.

Namaste,
Heidi Van Camp, LMT
